According to reports, Wegovie contains semaglutide which helps control appetite so that you can avoid overeating. This is the first drug launched in India which can be helpful in both long-term weight control and reducing heart-related risks in obese people.

Novo said that this injection, used once a week, will soon be available in pharmacies across the country. The drug company said that Wegovie is available in 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, 1 mg, 1.7 mg and 2.4 mg doses. The first three will cost Rs 4,336, which can cost up to Rs 17,345 per month.

Now the question is how does this drug work?

Novo company said that the drug Wegovy will work like a hormone called glucagon-like peptide 1 or GLP-1. These hormones are considered important in controlling hunger. Experts say that it helps reduce hunger by binding to the GLP-1 receptors present in your brain, making you feel full. Apart from this, it is also helpful in controlling blood sugar levels.

The company says that with the help of Wegovy, you can help in reducing calorie intake, which can make it easier for you to lose weight. Clinical trials conducted to understand the effects of this drug have shown that with the help of this injection, along with attention to diet and exercise, it can help reduce body weight by up to 20 percent within a year and a half.
