Jaipur: The country's first girls' Sainik School will open in Bikaner, Rajasthan, with the donation of land and a building worth Rs 108 crore from the family of Poonamchand Rathi. The family will hand over the papers of the land and building to the Education and Panchayati Raj Minister Madan Dilawar on Friday.
The admission process for this girls' Sainik School to be open in Jaimalsar, a village around 35 km away from Bikaner city, will start in January 2026 with the entrance exam in April and the session in July 2026. The education minister, Madan Dilwar, will visit the land and building where the school is proposed to open, and the Rathi family will formally hand over the papers of the property to the minister.
Kolkata based businessman Poonamchand Rathi is native of Jaimalsar and made this building in memory of his parents, Ramidevi and Ramnarayan Rathi.

But I thought that something should be done for girls too, especially now when girls are joining the army, they should be provided proper training,” said Rathi to the media.
Notably, as per the budget announcement of the Rajasthan government, a total of nine military schools will be opened in the state. These will include girls' military schools in Kota, Jaisalmer, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Alwar, Jaipur, and Udaipur. A general military school will open in Mirzawala of Ganganagar. 42 hectares of land has been allotted in Kota, 30 acres in Jaisalmer, 30 acres in Ajmer and 12 hectares in Bharatpur for the schools.
These schools will be fully equipped with hostel facilities. Their exams will be conducted by the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education.
