Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Noted personalities including sportsperson PT Usha (New Delhi), Meenakshi Jain (New Delhi), Shashiprabha Kumar (Noida) and Indumati Katdare (Ahmedabad) will be feted with Veerangana Laxmibai Rashtriya Samman.
The award, instituted by the Madhya Pradesh Government, is presented for bravery, women empowerment and social renaissance.
Besides, social worker Mahesh Sharma (Jhabua), Lieutenant General (Retd.) Syed Ata Hasnain, Girish Prabhune (Pune) and Vivekanand Kendra Institute of Culture (Guwahati) will be awarded with Amar Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Rashtriya Samman for promoting the ideals of freedom struggle, patriotism and social service.

Nirmaldas Narang (Gwalior), Seva Bharti Shiksha Samiti (Indore), Ramakrishna Mission Sevashram Hospital (Vrindavan) and Janjati Kalyan Kendra (Dindori) will be honoured with Maharaja Agrasen Rashtriya Samman for their outstanding work in the field of social service.
Rs 2 lakh each will be presented to the awardees in an event ‘Azadi Ka Mahaparv Evam Alankaran Samaroh,’ to be organised by the culture department at Ravindra Convention Centre in the city on August 15. A concert of noted playback singer Suresh Wadkar and his team will follow the felicitation ceremony.
