Goa's Ark has found its harbour in Anjuna since 2014

  • Goa’s Ark reflects founder Dudik Barak love for Goa and Mediterranean-Israeli traditions.

  • It’s more than food — it's a vibrant hub for jazz, games, and community events.

  • With hammocks, jazz, and warmth, it’s a backyard-style escape that feels like home.

Rooted in Mediterranean flavours, cooked with soul and served in an open-air garden that feels more like someone’s backyard than a commercial space, at Goa’s Ark in Anjuna, things are simple, real and authentic.

Although officially opened in 2014, the journey began long before that, quietly in a home kitchen with shared plates and stories. Over time, it anchored itself as more than just a dining spot, becoming a local hangout, cultural space and community hub.

“Goa felt like home long before I ever thought of opening a restaurant. I didn’t come here to start a business — I came for the pace, the people, and the sense of community,” says Dudik Barak, Founder and Culinary Head, Goa’s Ark.

“I started by cooking for my son’s school, for neighbours, for small birthday gatherings; and it grew from there. There was no plan, just honest food and a connection with the people around me. The restaurant came much later — it’s just a natural extension of that same feeling,” he adds.

With a menu that leans into Israeli and Mediterranean traditions, guests can find fresh hummus, grilled meats, mezze platters and a standout BBQ section.

'The Steak Night' on Wednesdays has become a ritual for many who devour their signature cuts that are dry-aged, grilled over charcoal, and served with simple, honest sides.

Other crowd favourites at Goa’s Ark include the Lamb Kofta, Catch of the Day on the grill, and the freshly made falafel, served with hand-whipped tahini.

Experiential tourism is re-defining Goa travel in 2025

Much like Noah’s Ark, Goa’ Ark was created to be a safe space — a gathering point for people from all walks of life, carrying them through seasons and stories. In many ways, that’s exactly what Goa’s Ark has become: open, welcoming and timeless.

There are hammocks, gravel paths, jazz in the background and young lads playing around, that’s really the scene at Goa’s Ark.

On Thursdays, with live jazz performances by Umami Trio, the space converts into a free-spirited jam session. These evenings are co-curated by Sanyam Gupta, co-owner of Goa’s Ark who is also spearheading an exciting new activation for the bar’s cocktail program.

And, on Fridays, Goa’s Ark takes its signature dishes and heads to the Goa Collective Bazaar, where they connect with the wider community.

One special highlight at Goa’s Ark is their petanque pit and a games corner, welcoming additions for their regulars, families and early risers, who seek a more meaningful kind of leisure, and tend to hang out beyond just eating and drinking. Soon, they also plan to introduce a pickle ball court, along with a sauna zone.

“I’ve been coming here for over eight years. It’s not just the food — it’s the feeling. You walk in, and it’s like a little pocket of peace in the middle of Anjuna. Bharat remembers your name, your drink, and even your stories,” shares Berlin-based artist, Elena Bruckner, a regular at the restaurant.

For Elena and other regulars, it’s the consistency, warmth and comforting familiarity of not just the food, but the heartfelt welcome, the shared memories and the certainty of a genuinely good evening.

It’s rare to find a place that doesn’t try too hard and still gets it right. And, Goa’s Ark does just that.
