Kerry Katona furiously defends Romeo Beckham amid nepo baby jibes

Kerry Katona has defended Romeo Beckham after the budding model looked the spitting image of his ultra famous dad, David Beckham, in a new photoshoot. The pictures showed their striking resemblance and had many fans wondering if Romeo was hoping to emulate the former footballer's successful career.

But brushing off speculation that Romeo is a "nepo baby", Kerry said, " Romeo Beckham is the spitting image of his dad, David, in a new photoshoot for VMan . But saying that, I really do see Victoria in him too, he’s such a mix. Romeo obviously takes after his dad, but I really hate this whole “nepo baby” narrative."

"If you saw your mum doing make-up for a living, you might want to also be a make-up artist, but that doesn’t make you any good at it," she explained in her New! Magazine column. Continuing: "Celebrities can open doors for their kids, but they need to be talented to stay in the room."

Nepo baby is a term for someone whose career is in a similar field to a successful parent, implying they benefited from their parent's connections and status to get a "big break". Kerry is a mum to five children and has previously echoed that while she can help with their careers, she cannot create fame and fortune for her brood.

Romeo's photoshoot comes after The Beckhamshave been plagued by rumours of a rift ever since older brother Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz swerved David's 50th birthday in May, despite being in the UK at the time. Brooklyn is thought to be disconnected from the rest of the family; David, Victoria, Romeo and his younger siblings Cruz and Harper.

Earlier this year, Romeo and his brother, Cruz, are thought to have unfollowed Brooklyn after reports persisted that aspiring chef Brooklyn had clashed with his brother over his choice of girlfriend – with Romeo recently splitting from Kim Turnbull, 24, who later insisted she wanted no part of the feud rumours after reports suggested she once dated Brooklyn, which she denied.

Meanwhile, other reports have suggested Brooklyn and Nicola have endured a frosty relationship with his famous parents David and Victoria ever since their glitzy 2022 wedding in Florida, held at the billionaire heiress' family's mansion.

Nicola was surrounded by her mega rich family earlier this month when she renewed her wedding vows with Brooklyn across the pond. However, not a single member of Brooklyn's family attended.

Kerry recently hit out at Brooklyn for the vow renewal move, writing in one of her previous columns: "I think it’s absolutely despicable that Brooklyn Beckham renewed his wedding vows with Nicola Peltz without his parents there. I don’t agree with it whatsoever. Posh and Becks have given him everything and for him to be cutting them out, which seems to be what is happening, is awful."

She added: "They shouldn’t have done something as significant as renewing their vows until any conflict was resolved. They’ve only been married for three years, so it was hardly essential. The situation is so dreadfully sad."
