Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has ended his break from social media right when rumours linking him to the Manchester United job are picking up. The heat is on for Ruben Amorim after a rocky start at Old Trafford.
Despite this, the Manchester Evening News said on Monday that Amorim still has the backing of United's board, with insiders suggesting they're not currently scouting for replacements. Reports following the 3-1 loss to Brentford hinted that the club had drawn up athree-person shortlist to replace Amorim if performances don't improve.
Gareth Southgate, Andoni Iraola, and Oliver Glasner are reportedly the trio in question, but several other names are also being bandied about for the United job.

Zidane is one of them, and overnight, he posted a photo on social media, posing against the stunning backdrop of New York's skyline. While he's clearly relishing his time off, it'll be intriguing to see if the allure of management can coax him back – particularly if United come knocking.
The post is the first personal one he has shared for a week, and in that space of time, Zidane may well have seen the various reports linking him to the United job, off the back of Amorim's latest defeat at Brentford on Saturday.
Ex-Real Madrid boss Zidane has been consistently linked with a move to Old Trafford, ever since his departure from Los Blancos in 2021.
The former French midfielder boasts an impressive record of 200 wins in 320 games during his tenure at the Santiago Bernabéu, having secured two La Liga titles, two Supercopa de España, three consecutive Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cups, and two Club World Cups.
He also collected a slew of individual accolades during his time at Madrid, but has been out of management since leaving the club for the second time.
The ex-French international is also being touted as a potential successor to Didier Deschamps at the French national team, who has confirmed he'll step down after next summer's World Cup in the United States.

"There's a coach in charge, there's a team, and you have to respect everything, and that's what we do," he told Marca.
"I've always respected football and the people, so it's not the right time.
"But when the time comes, it will be a great pleasure if the opportunity arises. I've put my career on hold for a while, but I fully feel like a coach."
