Passengers at Bhuj airport experienced significant disruption and frustration on Saturday when an Air India flight bound for Mumbai took off with only 15 of its intended 180 passengers. The incident stemmed from an unexpected last-minute aircraft change, which saw a smaller plane with a capacity of 155 seats substituted for the originally scheduled 180-seater.
This sudden reduction in available seats left a substantial number of passengers stranded at the airport, unable to board the flight despite having prior bookings. The unexpected situation led to considerable anger among those affected, as their travel plans were severely impacted.
Passengers expressed their dismay over not being accommodated even with confirmed reservations. As of now, Air India has not yet provided alternative arrangements, intensifying the inconvenience and discontent among the stranded travelers.
In the wake of the incident, Air India has reportedly arranged accommodation for the affected passengers at a private hotel in Bhuj. This event follows other recent operational issues for the airline, including an Air India flight from Tokyo to Delhi making an emergency landing in Kolkata due to excessive cabin heat, and a Mumbai to Chennai flight returning to Mumbai shortly after takeoff on June 27.
