There has been a big change for those traveling in Delhi Metro. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has once again increased its fares after a long time. This has come into effect from today i.e. 25th August. The fare has been increased from Rs 1 to Rs 4 on all lines and from Rs 1 to Rs 5 on the Airport Express Line.
New fare slabAccording to DMRC, now the minimum fare of Delhi Metro will be Rs 11 and the maximum fare will be Rs 64. This change has been made after 8 years, which will affect the expenses of lakhs of passengers. The fare on the Airport Express Line has increased by Rs 5.
The passenger fares of the Delhi Metro services have been revised with effect from today, that is, 25th August 2025 (Monday) onwards. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation wrote on social media platform X, "The passenger fare of Delhi Metro services has been revised from today i.e. 25 August 2025 (Monday). This increase is minimal, which will be only from ₹ 1 to ₹ 4 (up to ₹ 5 for Airport Express Line) depending on the distance traveled. The new fare slabs will be effective from 25 August 2025."
Why was the decision taken?DMRC said that this increase in fare has been done to maintain the operation cost and service quality. This step had become necessary due to rising inflation and maintenance cost.
