Jeremy Clarkson and Lisa Hogan have revealed their Diddly Squat household has become a little smaller with the loss of several members. Taking to Instagram they shared an emotional video on both their accounts showing their fox-red Labrador, Arya's puppies going to new homes. As James Blunt's Goodbye My Love played the adorable litter were seen meeting their new owners. Cationing it they wrote: "Goodbye my puppies, goodbye my friends, we have loved to (you) so much."
Arya gave birth to 11 puppies with the couple acting as midwives while the Lionesses won the Euros final on July 27. Sadly, shortly afterwards Jeremy announced the heartbreaking development that one of the puppies had died. A week after the birth on Sunday (August 3), Lisa, 51, took to Instagram to give a further update. Sharing a clip of the new mum with her puppies, Lisa gushed: "So, we are seven days on about half of you would have been born now so maybe eight of you would have been born.
We have 11, or 12, but one died. But Arya is being amazing. She's coming out for walks with her sister which is good, otherwise she just wants to be with her little offspring."
She also revealed that there was one puppy who was the runt of the litter and therefore needed to be handfed.
She explained: "I've been handfeeding this one because she's the lightest, but I've just weighed them all and they've all put on a bit of weight, and some of them have doubled."
However, on August 30, Jeremy revealed there were further issues wth the puppies as Arya developed mastitis due to the sheer number of offspring. The condition causes a dog's mammary glands to become swollen and painful. It can lead to a hesitancy to feed the young puppies as well as depression and anxiety in the dog.
"To stop the puppies trying to get on a teat, we had to move her out of their pen. This has sent her into such a spiral of despair that all she does all day is stare at the floor - or wander round the garden digging up every single one of the plants we have," he wrote.
Indeed Arya looked rather despondent as her puppies left with her new owners and was seen being comforted in the clip.
While the couple have found good homes for Arya's litter they have also welcomed another new puppy into their home. Jeremy introduced a new addition to his 9.5 million Instagram followers on September 14.
In front of his 9.5 million followers, he posted a photo of himself cradling a tiny golden puppy. He simply captioned the endearing snap: "Meet Margarey."
