Man Utd see second Bryan Mbeumo transfer bid rejected as Brentford stand firm

Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo, with a second bid of £62.5million being turned down. The Red Devils' initial offer of £45m plus an additional £10m in add-ons was rejected by Brentford, and now a second attempt of £55m plus £7.5m in bonuses has also been dismissed.

This firm stance from Brentford could lead to a potential standoff, as Mbeumo has expressed his desire to only join United. Tottenham Hotspur were believed to be interested in reuniting the forward with newly-appointed manager Thomas Frank, his former boss at Brentford.

However, Spurs have yet to make a formal offer and Mbeumo only wants to move to Manchester, leaving United with a clear path to sign Mbeumo - provided they meet Brentford's valuation of the 25-year-old.

Brentford are holding out for a fee close to £65m, and it remains to be seen whether United will return with a third improved offer for the Cameroon international or turn their attention to other targets.

United manager Ruben Amorim is keen to have Mbeumo on board for the start of pre-season training on July 7, but the Red Devils will need to increase their latest bid if they hope to secure their second signing of the summer, following the £62.5m acquisition of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
