BBC viewers have delighted in the thriller which is now available on streaming platform Netflix with some fans branding the drama an "absolute masterpiece". The BBC show turned Netflix hit has fans binge watching the six-part series in one day as many agree its a much watch. A Good Girl's Guide To Murder is based on Holly Jackson's young adult trilogy of the same name, which was so popular that it led to last year's adaptation. The show first aired on the BBC, and can still be watched on iPlayer, but was made available in the US on Netflix. It has now been added to the platform in the UK - where it's entered the streamer's list of top 10 TV shows.
If that wasn't enough, the show is filming six new episodes for a second season. Starring Wednesday's Emma Myers, who plays detective Pip Fitz-Amobi. In the summer holidays before entering her last year of school, Pip decides to use her A-Level extended project to investigate an unsolved case in the rural town of Little Kilton following the disappearance of schoolmate Andie Bell (India Lillie Davies) five years ago. Everyone assumed her now-dead boyfriend did it. But did he really? Pip enlists the help of her younger brother Ravi to help solve the case.
The series has received an 82 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes as reviewers shared their thoughts.
One wrote: "Emma Myers is great! It had us guessing until the end and hope they do more."
Another gushed: "An absolutely stunning story that follows the book perfectly, the acting cast was perfect and on the dot. Absolute masterpiece!"
A third admirer: "What a show! Binge-watched in a day. A murder mystery with a soul. Riveting plot. Incredible storyline. Keeps you hooked. Relatable characters. Emma Myers is fantastic; what a screen-presence! She was so wasted in Wednesday. Enjoyed throughly."
"If there's one book adaptation that could be a completly different thing is this one, it has nothing to do with the book, but I think it turned out as the best series released this year," a fourth penned.
Another added: "I really enjoyed this series! The acting was good, the cinematography was spot on, and the pacing was good over the several episodes! I read the book awhile ago, so it didn't bother me that things were changed in the adaptation. Definitely recommend!"
After the BBC and Netflix co-production announced the series would be returning, author Holly Jackson said she was "beyond thrilled" to continue Pip's story and shared that she will be part of the writers' room for the second season.
