Thousands of people who receive Carer's Allowance will get a bonus payment of £293.50 later this year. This extra money is meant to support carers and will be automatically paid to those who qualify, which means there is no need to apply.
The last payment was issued in June 2025, and the next one is planned for December 2025. To qualify for this bonus, individuals usually need to be receiving either Carer's Allowance or Carer's Support Payment. People receiving Carer Support Payment-which is slowly replacing Carer's Allowance in Scotland-are also eligible for the bonus. This payment, called the Carer's Allowance Supplement, is given twice a year.

If you are eligible for the payment, Social Security Scotland will send you a letter, and the money will be automatically deposited into your usual bank account, reports Edinburgh Live.
Both Carer's Allowance and Carer Support Payment are worth £83.30 per week. To qualify for Carer's Allowance, you must be at least 16 years old, provide a minimum of 35 hours of care each week (which can include help with daily tasks like washing, managing bills, or attending medical appointments), and not be in full-time education or studying more than 21 hours a week.
There is also an earnings limit of £196 per week; if you earn even £1 over this amount, you won't be eligible. You don't need to be related to the person you are providing care for, but if more than one person is providing care, only one can claim Carer's Allowance.
