Berhampur: Police on Tuesday recovered the body of a 14-year-old boy, who was missing since Sunday, near Khandarabali village in Ganjam district.
The boy left his house on Sunday but did not return. Family members had lodged a missing person’s report at Gangapur police station on Monday after they failed to trace him despite extensive search. Locals found the body of the Class IX student lying in a bush on the Khandavalli-Rampalli road, about 3 km from the village, on Tuesday and informed family members and police.
As the body has injury marks, family members suspect some miscreants might have killed him and dumped the body in the bush. A forensic team and dog squad were deployed for investigation, police said.
“The body was sent for post-mortem. We are waiting for the autopsy report to conduct further investigation,” said Deepak Kumar Mishra, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Bhanjanagar.
Villagers and family members demanded immediate arrest of those involved in the alleged murder.
