As Karisma Kapoor celebrates her birthday today, it's the perfect time to revisit her strong on-screen chemistry and long-standing friendships with the three Khans of Bollywood — Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan. Known for her charm, talent, and versatility, Karisma was one of the most popular heroines of the 1990s and early 2000s, often sharing the screen with these superstars in some of the era’s biggest hits.
In a past interview with Pinkvilla, Lolo opened up about what it was like working with the three Khans and what made each of them unique, both as actors and individuals.
“We’ve grown up together”
Reflecting on her journey with the trio, Karisma said, “We have all literally grown up together. I think they are all very special and very different from each other. Their working styles are very different; that's what is unique about them.”
This sense of growing up alongside them is more than just a nostalgic statement. Karisma began acting at a young age and quickly rose to fame, sharing screen space with each Khan during some of their formative years in the industry.
Salman Khan: Fun on set, focused in frame
With Salman Khan, Karisma created magic in films like ‘Judwaa’, ‘Biwi No.1’, ‘Dulhan Hum Le Jayenge’, and the evergreen ‘Jeet’. Their pairing became synonymous with fun, chemistry, and box-office hits.
Sharing what she loved most about working with Salman, Karisma said, “Salman is more masti and fun, but in the shot, he's very serious.”
Shah Rukh Khan: A generous, hardworking co-star
Karisma’s work with Shah Rukh Khan includes memorable films like ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’, ‘Duplicate’ (in a special appearance), and ‘Shakti: The Power’. It was in these collaborations that she got to witness SRK’s discipline and generosity as an actor. She shared, “Shah Rukh Khan is extremely hardworking and a very giving actor. He will really sit with you and do your lines, which is such a great quality…”
Aamir Khan: The perfectionist
Karisma teamed up with Aamir Khan in the much-loved film ‘Raja Hindustani’, which was a huge commercial success. The film remains a milestone in both their careers. Speaking about Aamir, she said, “Aamir is such a perfectionist. Working with them, I also got to learn a lot.”
Karisma didn’t just act alongside the three Khans, she studied them. As she put it, “That's why I like to observe actors, and I literally observed them and took their best quality.”
Karisma’s comeback trail
Today, Karisma Kapoor is still winning hearts — not just on the silver screen but also on digital platforms and reality shows. She was last seen in the quirky romantic mystery film ‘Murder Mubarak’, starring alongside Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Vijay Varma, and Dimple Kapadia.
