'Chip missing from his brain': Devendra Fadnavis slams Rahul Gandhi; dismisses LoP's 'vote theft' charge against Election Commission

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday lashed out at Rahul Gandhi over his allegations of voter fraud, and sharply criticised the Congress leader's allegations against the Election Commission of India (ECI).

"Rahul Gandhi needs to get his brain checked. Either his mind is stolen or there is a chip missing from his brain — that’s the reason he is making such comments," Fadnavis told reporters, dismissing the accusations as "baseless."

The BJP leader’s remarks followed Gandhi’s press briefing, in which the leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha accused the ECI of "colluding" with the BJP to "steal" elections, particularly in Maharashtra.

Gandhi had earlier promised to drop what he termed an "atom bomb" of evidence against the poll panel. Reiterating his charge, the Raebareli MP alleged that the recent results in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh "confirmed" electoral malpractice and justified the Congress-led opposition INDIA bloc’s concerns.

The Election Commission has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing and rejected all allegations of bias or fraud.
